Springtime Sensory Bags

Our little one is 6 weeks old (when did that happen?! it feels like he just got here), and we have been thinking through the ways in which we want to engage with him and his rapidly growing body and mind.

Enter: sensory bags.

I know that sensory bags are great for when children reach 6 months of age and beyond, however, we don't have a lot of toys (except for this mat for tummy time). I decided to make 3 Spring-ish sensory bags so that we can begin to engage senses and let our little one explore!

We made a quick run to our local Dollar Tree, spent $7 and 10 minutes of work = endless fun!

Supplies you'll need:

  • Gallon ziplock bags or vacuum seal your own bags

  • Duct tape (if you use ziplock bags)

  • Liquid (hair gel or water)

  • Sensory items (pasta, erasers, pom poms, sponges, straws, sequins, glitter, seeds, buttons...the list is endless!)

We emptied our items (sequins, bathtub frogs, and Easter bunny erasers) into three separate bags, filled them with hair gel, sealed them and viola! Sensory bag fun for the next few months until we make Summer-themed items.

What do you like to put into your sensory bags?
